Fuel price hikes increase operating costs by 3.3% in 3 months!

Since the publication of its annual survey of operating costs for the 12 months to October 2010, the Road Haulage Association has now established that typical costs for UK hauliers have increased by a staggering 3.3 per cent.

“Since Autumn 2010, fuel has increased in price by just over 10 per cent said RHA Logistics Development Manager, Nick Deal.  For the 2010 survey, fuel represented 31.4 per cent of a trucks costs; that has now increased to 33.6 per cent.

“In pound note terms,” continued Nick Deal, “this equates to a £4,206 increase per truck, per year in the space of three months. In some sectors of the industry the increase in costs will be significantly higher.

“We are stressing to customers that these unavoidable cost increases will be reflected in increased rates. These costs will inevitably feed inflation and will jeopardise recovery threatening economic recovery”.
